If the dice are NOT allowed to be saved for a future action, how do you note the dice that you give to other players (since it isn't their turn, they cannot use them immediately). If other players who receive your dice are able to save them for later, why would you, the player who initiated the exchange, be forced to use the dice you received immediately?

In other words, why would the standards for exchanged dice be different depending on whether you are the current player or not? There's no practical reason I can think of.

Also, if exchanged dice cannot be manipulated by influence, how do players keep track of which dice they have received in exchange from other players? There's no precedent in the game for distinguishing dice apart from those that are bought which must be used immediately.

I wholeheartedly agree with Curt - the dice are swapped and are treated as if they were originally rolled by the player who now possesses them. They can be saved, re-rolled, exchanged again (by the same or other players), etc.

The amount of bookkeeping needed or the inexplicable difference in how exchanged dice are handled based on who initiated the exchange both support this simple, streamlined view.
