I have had this game for quite a bit but only yesterday did I notice something I am not sure about regarding the Character Cards. All of them are similar and read:
"1 VP if you have a total of 2 or 3 citizens on yellow Activity cards and on City Hall."
Now, as far as logic is concerned (in mathematical and legal context)
1) the expression "AND" means both A and B,
2) the expression "OR" (also referred to in English as "AND/OR", especially in a legal context and not without reason) means either (i) A, or (ii) B, or (iii) A and B,
3) the expression "EITHER... OR..." means (i) only A, (ii) only B.
Coming back to the Character Cards, the wording would suggest that in order to score 1 VP for a Character card (e.g. Jeanne de Champagne), a player must have at least 1 citizen on a yellow Activity card and at least 1 citizen on City Hall. It also suggests that if a player has 2 citizens on 2 different yellow Activity cards only, the player DOES NOT receive any VPs.
Was that the original intention of the author or should the card read: "1 VP if you have a total of 2 or 3 citizens on yellow Activity cards or on City Hall."
I believe the latter is correct and the author was simply not fully aware of "and, or, either... or..." expressions.
Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Thank you.
