Hate to bump an old thread, but this is still unclear to me.
Is it one cube period, or one cube per use of Action 7 (but, for example, I could put a second cube on later in the game, even if the original is still present).
I presume it is one cube ONLY (until that cube is removed, then another can be added), but I wanted to clarify.

I believe that you can have more than one cube per outdoor activity at a time, but you can place them only one per use of a guard.
The "Important Note" on page III of the rules says, "it is not possible to use two cubes from the same outdoor activity during the same action."
I think that this note allows the possibility of multiple cubes, and is just communicating a limitation that you cannot use more than one per action.
(It would be unusual for the rules to say that you can't use two cubes from the same outdoor activity because it would be impossible to have them!)
PS - I think that you just ordered your set today from amazon.de!
Good for you, and good for trying get your questions answered before it arrives.
I'm thinking of getting an amazon.de copy, but I don't think that I will.
My story of Troyes began with Ladies. My daughter and I saw it in a shop, and it caught her eye. She was probably 8-9 at the time, and any game with a picture of ladies on the box (and in the name!) was interesting. I figured out pretty quickly that it was an expansion to a game that we didn't have, and that was that.
But that lead me to look into Troyes and, after having read about it (and probably asking rules questions on BGG!), I bought a gently used copy on eBay from a local seller.
Got Tournay too, somewhere along the line.
My daughter gave Tournay a try once or twice, and Troyes maybe once, if that.
I think that Troyes is a good game, but I don't really have anyone to play it against. So, even though I think that a decently priced Ladies is a good find, I don't know if it makes sense for me. (And I just got a box of three games from Funagain yesterday.)
Maybe Mr. Jack Senorcoo Black Adder will help me change my mind ...
And I'm wondering about Deus (from the same designer) ...
