Are the Events in brackets examples of cards that cause that kind of loss, or do they define what Events you can block.
I.e. Resistance causes players to remove the last placed cube on each Event Card.
Am I allowed to prevent this, because it's the loss of a cube?
Or am I not allowed to prevent this, because "Resistance" isn't referred to specifically in the rules?

I think these are just examples and any event that makes you lose deniers, influence or cubes can be avoided by spending one cube from the activity. Besides, "Resistance" was a bonus card that originally wasn't included in the base game, so it's possible that it was not considered during the Ladies of Troyes rulebook writing. Just my opinion, anyway, official input would be great though.
