On a whim, I decided to start a Knizia Challenge on January 31st. Samurai kicked things off with many more plays to follow.
Fast tokens are great to drop on the board to break your friends’ hearts. Fast tokens are not nearly as exciting when it’s almost your entire first hand!
We played the beginner game and won. It felt too easy so now I feel like we’re missing rules making the game swing in the other direction. The first play we had was very thematic so may my confusion intentional and thematic too…I assume confusion was part of WWI as well…
Euro racing game. Yup, a Euro racing game. With dice manipulation and god powers and teleporting and trying to screw over your friends and luck of the draw if everything else fails… Do I need to go on? When my friend starts building the board and asks if he can do whatever he wants, I should have known we’d end up with something like this.
Yes. Just…Yes. Though comically, because of the faction I played, I still don’t know how to launch satellites.
After the major bridge failure with cars plunging to their crumpled deaths, I know what the front page of tomorrow’s newspaper is going to be. Turns out we missed a rule or two in this game maybe it’d be more fun if we played correctly.
Troyes(2010) - 3 Players - 3 All Time Plays
The Ladies came to Troyes and finally the city could procreate and live on! This was my first play with the expansion and I’ll play with it again (I bought both used as a bundle) but I’m not in a hurry to do so. The purple dice make the game nicer taking away what makes Troyes so great!
This one seems to get tougher at a full player count. At least that's what we decided after losing.

I had some non-gamer friends over for games. We ended up playing this ten times. Ten is a lot for any little game, no matter how fun it is, but it's great to see people find a game that they really enjoy. So that's always worth it.
Not sure I've ever lost this game, so we’re probably doing something wrong. However it's again a great game to pull out with non-gamers and everyone enjoyed themselves. Even when our ghost was dumb. Almost let him rot in ghost purgatory for it.
Taught this to my roommate and got destroyed. Embarrassingly so. Taught a friend a few days later and finally felt like I had some control in the game. If I could only figure out what the difference in those two games were.
Always going to enjoy gaining fear by scaring the imperial settlers. When THIS CARD is drawn, the art makes it even more fun. When the fear cards we draw actually started helping the cause things got going and the spirits stepped it up.
A co-worker said he likes Settlers of Catan and was interested in the concept that him and his wife could play against the game. Realizing that I’d be either teaching him in his office quick or answering questions over texts, a refresher game was in order. I’ve never shuffled in Outbreak cards as terribly as in this game!
