Week ago I got introduced to Troyes and loved it. Not immediately, it took some time to fully endorse this game. But the magic worked, ideas on how to play it were with me following days so... Yes, few days after my initial play I placed two orders, for both the base game and the expansion:)And I have not played the purlple dice yet. After reading yours and other people reviews I am sure that this Family Heads make the game less challenging. And so - less fun, at least for me.
I like your variant but got another idea. Purple dice should be a one timer, or multiple time use, but with 2 turns recharge period. Players would roll the purple dice each round and if decided to use it, they would have to put it away for following two rounds. Players who decided not to use it could be awarded with single influence point, paid for putting the dice away after rolling. Obviously most players would try to explout the purple dices three times during the game, but in some cases an exta IP may become a gamebreaker.
I have to playtest it myself but would like to know if anybody find it usable at all :)
